We Hear in Our Own Languages

Thursday, May 21, 2015
Acts 2:8-13 KJV

8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? 9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, 10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. 12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? 13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

OBSERVATION QUESTIONS

LIFE LESSONS

God Highly Exalted Him

Wednesday, March 25, 2015
Philippians 2:9-16 KJV

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; 11 And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure. 14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; 16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

OBSERVATION QUESTIONS
1) Because our Lord Jesus humbled himself and became obedient unto death, what did Father God do for Him? (v.9)
2) Because Jesus' name is exalted how will things on earth respond to that name? Why? (v.10-11)
3) What does the Apostle Paul encourage believers to do and why? (v.12-13)
4) What else does Paul encourage Christians to do? Why? (v.14-16)

APPLICATION QUESTIONS
5) How do you invoke the Name of Jesus in your life?
6) What do you do to work out your salvation?

LIFE LESSONS
7) The Name of Jesus is not an incantation, but invokes the power of God in every situation in which we need His power.
8) The Lord saves us, but we yield to His sanctifying work by yielding to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Power from the Holy Spirit

Friday, March 20, 2015
Acts 1:4-8 KJV

4 And, being assembled together with [them], commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, [saith he], ye have heard of me. 5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. 6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? 7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

OBSERVATION QUESTIONS
1) After our Lord Jesus' resurrection from the dead, He presented Himself alive to many of His disciples. What did Jesus command the disciples to do and why? (v.4-5)
2) What did the disciples ask the Lord following His command? (v.6)
3) What was our Lord's response to them? (v.7-8)
