Proverbs 11:9-13 KJV
9 An hypocrite with [his] mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered. 10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, [there is] shouting. 11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked. 12 He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace. 13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
OBSERVATION QUESTIONS
1) How is a neighbor destroyed? (v.9)
2) What happens when "it goes well with the righteous" and when the "wicked perish"? (v.10)
3) What exalts a city and what overthrows it? (v.11)
4) How do the wicked and the man "of understanding" regard their neighbor? (v.12)
5) What does a talebearer and a faithful person do against their neighbor? (v.13)
APPLICATION QUESTIONS
6) How loving are you toward your neighbor(s)?
LIFE LESSONS
7) Our neighbor is anyone who is in need.
8) The Lord God commands His children to love our neighbors, as ourselves.

Mark 12:28-34b KJV
28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments [is], Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this [is] the first commandment. 31 And the second [is] like, [namely] this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. 32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: 33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love [his] neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. 34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God.
OBSERVATION QUESTIONS
1) What did the scribe ask Jesus? (v.28)
2) What was Jesus' response? (v.29-31)
3) What did the scribe say to Jesus after hearing His response? (v.32-33)
4) What did Jesus say to the scribe? Why? (v.34a)
APPLICATION QUESTIONS
5) Have you obeyed the Lord's commands to love Him and love the people He loves? If not, why not?
6) If you have faithfully obeyed the Lord's commands to love Him and to love the people He loves, briefly describe how you have done that recently.
LIFE LESSONS
7) The faithful are not always able to love God and/or His people as the Lord would have us to.
8) When believers are not able to love as Jesus loves it is incumbent upon us to confess our weakness, repent of our failure, and pray for the Lord's grace to love who He loves and as He loves.

Lev 19:9-15 KJV
9 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest. 10 And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather [every] grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I [am] the LORD your God. 11 Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another. 12 And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I [am] the LORD. 13 Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbour, neither rob [him]: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning. 14 Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I [am] the LORD. 15 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: [but] in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.
OBSERVATION QUESTIONS
1) The Lord's moral and ceremonial laws continue with these verses in Chapter 19. What did the Lord our God tell His people not to do, concerning their gleanings (harvesting)? Why? (v.9-10)
2) What else did the Lord tell His people to do, and not to do, toward their neighbors? (v.11-15)
APPLICATION QUESTIONS
3) Who do you consider your neighbors to be? Why?
4) Has the Lord ever given you a burden (compassion) for people that you may never meet? If so, please describe one such instance.
LIFE LESSONS
5) Our "neighbor" may be people who live in our vicinity, or in other parts of the world.
6) Our Lord loves all the people of the world, no matter their ethnicity, or station in life.
7) When the Lord grows His love in our hearts, it is for all with whom He brings into our lives and gives us the compassion to help.
